The DAARG, founded in 2013, is based in the charming Village of Catskill near the historic city of Hudson, New York. Along the river and with majestic views on the Catskill mountains.

The group specializes restoration architecture, landscape restoration, interior restoration and advice regarding the care of decorative arts and furniture.

The DAARG offers assistance to organizations or individuals in the discovery, retention or maintenance of the spirit, or ‘sense’, in buildings, gardens and/or other built environments. Through the study of interiors, architecture and landscape, the DAARG will recommend and assist in the implementation of a plan to allow the historic integrity and people past speak of a place.

Founders André Hoek and Margaret (Meg) Nowack have varied backgrounds and can offer multiple services for very small scale projects to entire building and landscape restoration. We provide:

  • Valuation and survey of existing original building material, interior and exterior

USA-NY State fully licensed and registered architect André Hoek is an International Associate member of the AIA and Royal Institute of Dutch Architects. He has been practicing architecture for over 30 years, 25 of which has been in his own restoration architectural firm. André is also qualified to restore historic landscapes surrounding buildings in order to create a context for the restoration.

Preservationist Meg Nowack has been in the preservation field for over 20 years and holds a Masters Degree in Museum Studies. She specializes in the care of select objects in private homes and museums and the organization of these objects for records and insurance purposes.

Other expertise comes from a pool of carefully selected professionals including architects, historical researchers, professional photographers and a horticulturalist specializing in historic plants.
